The Schlanders market community rises halfway between the Reschen pass and the spa town of Meran. The municipal district comprises the idyllic locations of Schlanders, Kortsch, Göflan, Vetzan, Nördersberg and Sonnenberg.

The 97 meter high steeple tower belonging to the “Maria Himmelfahrt” Parish Church of the Assumption of Our Lady is the Schlanders town landmark and the highest church steeple in the whole of Tyrol.
